Changing Roles

Changing Roles

Workshop for leaders and followers who want to learn how to switch roles while dancing. Open to all levels… including dancers who've never switched before!

Themes:
Improvisation in Tango free style
Leading: Directions (going beyond logic/step constraints)
Following: transforming the impulse
Change of Role: Who, When & How
Dance figure analysis featuring role switch
From figure to free improvisation

We use the Tango Free Style technique: an alternating play of form and its absence, of abrazo and released abrazo; we imagine tango as a play between following and being followed. Through a subtle connection with or without contact, dialogue is created and tango reveals itself as an improvisation that transform itself into a sheer experiment.
